Federal Halocarbon Regulations for Ozone Depleating Substances

The Federal Halocarbon Regulations (2022) biannual release report of ozone depleating substances releases is due January 31st.

What facilities are in scope?

This regulation applies to facilities which operate air-conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, solvent systems, fire-extinguishing systems, or have containers located in Canada that are:

  • Owned by the Crown or a federal work or undertaking, or
  • located on Indigenous or federal lands

Who needs to report?

According to the regulations any facility which released between 10 and 100 Kg of halocarbons on Schedule 1 of the Federal Halocarbon Regulations between July 1st and December 31st, 2024.
